About Us

Benchmark Medical Trust [BMT] -founded on 1st July, 2017 Doctor's Day- is a charitable trust purely borne out of essence where the sole aim is to provide affordable, accessible, appropriate oppurtune and good quality healthcare to rural population of India.

We are aiming to achieve this by improving patient health awareness through patient education, encouraging transparency in medical care of individual patient and also by introducing patient portal, networking all medical service providers.

Benchmark medical trust is now an ISO 9001: 2015 certied healthcare charity which promotes public health through free health camps and free telemedicine programs by networking health care facilities and services.

Free Health Camps


Before Covid-19 broke out, our activity mainly revolved around organising free health camps and campaigns. We served over 25000 poor people across 11 districts. At BMT, our primary focus is on preventive care and we work closely with the communities we serve to identify and design health campaigns tailored for each locations depending on the local needs. COVID-19 Relief


BMT's COVID relief efforts covered 20 districts in 2 states. During lockdown emergency, thanks to our donors, partners and volunteers about 1.5 lakh masks, 1 lakh gloves, 15,000 liters of sanitizers, 1500 face shields were donated to government district hospitals, municipalities, district police force and other frontline workers. BMT mobilized and distributed other vital personal protective equipment like 1000 PPE kits, 10,000 N95 masks, 1 Oxygen concentrator and 1 Oxygen cylinder and 1500 ration kits.Download the photobook!

Disaster Relief


BMT was involved in disaster relief work following the very severe cyclonic storm 'Gaja' in Tamilnadu's Delta region. BMT helped bring immediate disaster relief and medicine supplies, medical help so people can rebuild their lives. 1500 poor people were served in free relief camps in delta region. Free medicines plus multi vitamin and nutritional syrups provided. Similar relief work was also carried out during kerala floods following a request of Kerala IMA.

Free Clinics


BMT currently has one functioning free clinic in Virudhunagar, TN with plan to expand to few more over the next year. Our Virudhunagar clinic launched in January 2021 amidst a raging pandemic still managed to serve 614 poor patients. Free care includes Blood grouping, Blood investigations, Blood transfusions, Ct scan/x ray/ultrasound/echo for needy patients free of charge.

Public Health Campaigns


BMT organises public awareness campaigns like Menstrual hygiene program, TB nutrition program, Dental awareness to School children, Sports health awareness to school teachers, Work ergonomic awareness to employees, BMT VOX, a podcast for risk education on various diseases, Internship training for MSW students, and Covid awareness program in the form of Covid Prevention kits for drivers, road show skit performance and social media postings.

Free Telemedicine


Telemedicine Ensures access to healthcare especially to underserved populations to primary care and specialist providers. BMT Telemedicine will make that possible through its 10 speciality medical fields.

CME & Skills training workshops


BMT’s mission to improve patient care is partly aided by our medical education programs apply to doctors as well as paramedical staffs. We promote an interprofessional training model for all healthcare professionals.

Publications


BMT published a disease prevention and awareness guidelines to improve farmer's health. We also regularly publish and distribute a digital/print newsletter which contains the contributions from our members. Share your case reports, your specialty updates and clinical best practices. BMT Patient Advice and Liaison Services (PALS)


BMT Patient Advice and Liaison Service (BMT PALS) offers free, confidential advice, support and information on health-related matters to rural population. Located in Malli Village in Virudhunagar Dist, TN, our fully qualified PALS team provide a point of contact for patients, and their families in the vicinity. The team advices the patients how to get more involved in their own healthcare by providing them all the information and help them make their own decisions.
